Easy Projects .NET allows you to use the benefit of approving tasks by authorized persons (users) before they can be acted on.
To enable approval workflow:
1. |
Log in as Administrator (or a user who has the ‘Manage System Settings ’ permission). If you are already logged in, skip this step. |
2. |
Select General, Settings submenu of the Administration menu on the header menu. This will open the Administration options screen. |
3. |
Go to Advanced settings tab. |
4. |
Under Approval workflow settings, click 'Enable approval workflow'. |
5. |
Select one or both of the other available options: 'Activity creator can approve activities' and 'Project manager can approve activities'. See Approval workflow settings. |
|
You can select a specific approver from among the project members for a project on its details screen. |
Typical approval workflow include the following stages:
|
• |
An activity is created, e.g. a request for developing a feature in a software product. |
|
• |
A person responsible selects the 'Waiting for approval' status for the activity. |
|
• |
A notification is sent out about the event (to the effect of 'Activity is waiting for approval'). |
|
• |
A project member who is given the authority to approve activities (Approver) marks the Activity 'Approved' (a checkbox in Activity details). |
|
• |
A notification is sent out about the event (to the effect of 'Activity has been approved'). |
|
• |
Once an activity is approved, statuses that require approval (see Administration | System lists | Activity statuses) are unlocked for selection (visible on the Status drop down list). |
|
• |
The approved activity can now be carried out as usual. |
|
