Notes from Anton's Desk

Welcome to December! < Engage Holiday Mode > 2009 is almost over, and what a year it has been.

But wait, there is more! (Remember the infomercial?) This month Easy Projects gets interactive! We are introducing a new spin on Gantt Charts by adding an Interactive Gantt Chart which you can use to plan and utilize your resources. Update your hosting account to the latest version and have a look for yourself!

Now with October upon us, I can't help but get excited about Halloween! (Last year, I was a pilot!) Send me a picture of yourself in your Halloween costume to my personal email: anton.z@easyprojects.net and we'll feature them in our next issue! You might even win a prize! I'll see you in our November issue of Anton's Notes.

Easy Projects .NET Version 6.2.1 is Out!

This month we released an update to Easy Projects .NET 6.2! It is now available for download on our website and we have already started to convert our hosted accounts to this new version. While this is a minor update, it does introduce a number of new features and improvements.

This new version now allows you to create custom fields for projects and activities that are unique to a certain portfolio, introduces a new dependency type: "Finish to Start" and adds priting capabilities to the Interactive Gantt Chart.

We have also fixed a number of minor bugs and implemented other improvements such as optimizing the recalculation of start and end dates for activities.

Tip of the Month

Q: What is the difference between Text Area and Rich Text Area?

A: While Text Area is just a plain text box for you to enter data in, Rich Text Area provides you extra formatting and styling options through a similar interface you would see in a word processor. This allows you to style and format your input and can be useful when pasting in data from a word doc, since the formatting is preserved.

Project Management Book of the Month

The Fluorescent Light Glistens Off Your Head
by Scott Adams

He captures our workplace frustrations with dead-on accuracy. He knows all about the technophobic vice president, the fascist information systems supervisor, and even the big stubborn dumb guy. How does he do it? How does he know? It's downright spooky. Scott Adams, get out of our heads! The notion that Dilbert creator Scott Adams has secretly bugged every office, cubicle, and conference room in America-a belief widely held by Dilbert fans-has been debunked by pointy-haired experts. This discovery leads to an even more sinister yet inescapable conclusion: that the lunacy you thought was unique to your workplace is spreading with a viral malignancy across the nation's business landscape.

Do you have a favorite PM book? Don't keep it a secret! Tell us at info@easyprojects.net and we'll feature the book in our next newsletter!
