1. Easy Projects .NET 5.2 - What to Expect?

Our team has started working on version 5.2.
Once again we were dazzled by choices of what features to include in a new release. But YOU, our clients, were prompt to the rescue letting us know what features matter the most to you.

So far the shortlist for version 5.2 looks like this:

  • Gantt Chart improvements
  • Ability to add custom fields to the filters
  • Custom fields for customers
  • Custom fields for users
  • Web timer
  • Search objects by ID
We expect to have version 5.2 available by the end of April.

2. EP.NET API: Download desktop timer applications

We are pleased to introduce the very first applications designed using EP.NET API. Incidentally, both of these applications are Time Tracking programs. Now you can track the time spent on activities without the use of the web interface.

You can download these sample applications including the source code at: http://www.easyprojects.net/API/

4. Tip of the Month

Q: How do I add (or remove) a user to (from) multiple projects?

A: That's easy! Go to the Project List page. Click on the "Batch Operations" button. Choose "Change Members". Then select a user you want to add/remove. Next, mark down checkboxes for all projects you want to be affected and click "Run".

7. Project Management Book of the Month

"Managing Humans: Biting and Humorous Tales of a Software Engineering Manager" by Michael Lopp.

About this book:
Managing Humans is a selection of the best essays by Michael Lopp. Drawing on Lopp's management experiences at Apple, Netscape, Symantec, and Borland, this book is full of stories based on companies in the Silicon Valley where people have been known to yell at each other.

Whether you're an aspiring manager, a current manager, or just wondering what the heck a manager does all day, there is a story in this book that will speak to you. You will learn:

  • What to do when people start yelling at each other
  • How to perform a diving save when the best engineer insists on resigning
  • How to say "No" to the person who signs your paycheck

This book is designed for managers and would-be managers staring at the role of a manager wondering why they would ever leave the safe world of bits and bites for the messy world of managing humans. The book covers handling conflict, managing wildly differing personality types, infusing innovation into insane product schedules, and figuring out how to build a lasting and useful engineering culture.
